in regard to a request for some insight into the quality of young daniel p.'s first release, you'll have to wait for a 'quality' review. i will say that it is quite good in many places....yet, he has made his share of "quick hit the _skip track_ button" songs. (two tracks jump to mind here, both suffer from 'guitar noodle nonsense') the good parts FAR outweigh the bad parts. . .and as i mentioned the GREAT parts remind me of what i had expected from SAW2 (having taken Xtal to bed with some green calx) pemberton's 'sound' is very top heavy or as i might suggest 'HIGH' end. there are moments of grand melody, but for the most part we are dealing with very strange twisted and stoned sounds. what i think sets him apart from the masses that fit that description (strange/twist/stone) are his ability to work up to a crescendo, nip off the tail, and send it spiraling. i distinctly remember yelling "incoming!" and diving to the floor at least once during my first listen, i cant wait to see what happens to a croud of listeners when this finally reaches a PA. i like this disc. . .even if he's a little rich punk. I'm doing an ambient/idm room on New Year's Eve. I plan to drop it in with all of the other noise/nonsense for the evening. I'll let you know how the crowd reacts. My music partner, Gus, and I are going to dual DJ... We'll bring effects processors and possibly a couple of DAT's of our material. It's too risky to bring equipment out on New Years without armed guards to protect your gear from the wild partiers. -robert PS I love the track Submerge... ----------------------------------------------*AudioElectronic*----- "If BOTH the SAW and the PULSE switches are on, sonic explorers \ then both sawtooth and pulse waves are selected. \ This combination creates an extremely fat sound."
